The chance for breathtaking wildlife encounters on an ocean safari

Mobula Rays:
The true stars of your journey—mobula rays. These majestic, acrobatic creatures travel in large schools, performing spectacular jumps and flips in the water. On this expedition, you’ll have the unique opportunity to swim alongside them in their natural habitat. Picture yourself gliding through the water as these graceful rays swirl around you in synchronized formation. The chance to swim in the midst of a massive mobula ray school is an experience that few people on Earth will ever have.

Orcas (Killer Whales):
Imagine looking into the eyes of a killer whale as it glides effortlessly through the ocean. Orcas are the ultimate ocean predators—intelligent, powerful, and majestic. Your captain and guide will be tracking orca movements to position you at the perfect moment for a chance to swim with them. The thrill of encountering an orca pod, or perhaps swimming with them as they hunt or play, is a once-in-a-lifetime experience you’ll never forget.

Blue Whales:
The blue whale, the largest animal to ever live on Earth, is a mind-blowing sight when spotted in the wild. The chance to witness one of these giants is a rare opportunity few can ever imagine. With some luck, you may have the unforgettable experience of seeing a blue whale’s tail fin break the surface. The sheer size and power of these magnificent creatures will take your breath away.

Sperm Whales:
Spotting sperm whales in La Ventana is a rare and awe-inspiring experience. Located on the Baja California Peninsula, La Ventana offers a unique opportunity to witness these majestic giants of the ocean as they occasionally pass through the warm waters of the Sea of Cortez. Sperm whales, known for their immense size and distinctive, block-shaped heads, can be spotted during the winter months, when they migrate through the region. Though sightings are not guaranteed, the thrill of encountering these deep-diving creatures in their natural habitat is a breathtaking experience. As they surface for air, their powerful exhale creates a dramatic blow of mist, signalling their presence from afar.

Dolphins:
The waters of the Sea of Cortez are also home to dolphins, and you may have the chance to swim with spinner dolphins, bottlenose dolphins, or common dolphins. These intelligent, playful creatures love to interact with boats and swimmers, often putting on incredible acrobatic displays as they leap and spin through the water. Imagine being surrounded by a pod of dolphins, feeling the joy and excitement of swimming alongside them. The energy of these playful animals will make for unforgettable moments on this expedition.

A break for lunch on the boat, as you continue to scan the waters for signs of orcas, whales, or dolphins. Your guide will keep you informed of any sightings, and you’ll have the chance to chat about the marine life you’ve encountered so far.
Afternoon:
As the day continues, the excitement builds. Whether you’re swimming with a pod of dolphins or keeping an eye out for the giant tail fin of a blue whale, the waters of the Sea of Cortez never disappoint. Your guide will take you to the best spots for close-up encounters with these awe-inspiring creatures.
Return to shore:
After a thrilling day on the water, you’ll head back to La Ventana, your heart racing from the excitement of the day. In the evenings, you can relax on the beach, reflect on the incredible encounter, reviewing your photos and videos, and prepare for another action-packed day on the water.
